Defensiveness
I have really noticed lately a bad habit I have. I think I have had it a very long time, but I've noticed it getting worse and I am more aware of it. Hopefully becoming aware of it will help me work harder to stop it and overcome it.
I am a very defensive person. If I'm walking with someone in the mall, and they say something that I take as negative about someone else, or the music playing, or a store's pretend sales to reel customers in, I automatically am on the defensive for the negatively spoken of person or thing. I'm also defensive about things said to me that I take as criticism even if they really aren't. This isn't just a daily occurrence. It happens many times throughout every day.
I'm not exactly sure why I started this habit but I know it has to stop. It's rare that these are truly criticisms anyway, and it makes me think negatively so often. This is what I want to work on.
